Louise McKinney Stough passed away at her home in Tupelo, Texas on May 18, 2018. She was 100. Louise was born to Percy Preston McKinney and Mary Ruth Garner McKinney in Corsicana, Texas on March 10, 1918.
She graduated from Corsicana High School and attended TSCW not (TWU) in Denton, Texas. She worked for the city of Brownwood, Texas, the U S Navy in San Juan, Puerto Rico and the U S Army in Fort Monroe, Virginia where she and her husband retired in 1972 and moved to Tupelo, Texas.
She served as President of the Kinsloe House and Vice-Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church where she served in numerous capacities.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Rutherford Stough, her brother Lt. John Preston McKinney, sister and brother-in-law Mary and Leldon Harris and sister Garner McKinney Cavender.
She is survived by her son John Rutherford Stough, Jr. and wife Mary of Glenoma, Washington, son William Preston Stough and Martiza Stough of Tupelo, Texas, brother-in-law Dr. James (Jubilee) Cavender of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Corley Funeral Home Chapel in Corsicana. Graveside services are scheduled for Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Hamilton Beeman Cemetery in Retreat, Texas with Rev. Zach Stiefel officiating. Burial will follow at the cemetery.
